How it works

  1. Tell us what’s happening

Answer a short set of questions about your symptoms and the dates you need. It takes about 5 minutes.

  2. A practitioner reviews it

An Ahpra-registered practitioner assesses your request and may contact you if they need more information.

  3. If appropriate, your certificate is emailed

If a certificate isn’t clinically appropriate, the practitioner may decline it or suggest seeing a GP in person.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

$35 flat, whether your certificate covers one day or several. The practitioner decides how many days are clinically appropriate. You pay when you submit your request, and there are no other fees.

How long does it take?

Requests are reviewed typically within 48 hours of submission. If the practitioner needs more information, it can take longer.

Is a certificate guaranteed?

No. Every request is assessed by a registered practitioner, and a certificate is issued only when it’s clinically appropriate. If it isn’t, the practitioner may decline the request or suggest seeing a GP in person.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are generally only given if you’ve been charged incorrectly. The fee covers the practitioner’s assessment, so it isn’t refunded if a certificate is declined. This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Contact admin@clickclinic.com.au if you think you’ve been charged in error.

Is it a medical certificate or an absence certificate?

Certificates issued by a nurse practitioner are titled an absence certificate, not a medical certificate. Like a medical certificate, it confirms the dates you were unfit for work or study, or needed to provide care. If your employer, award, agreement or education provider specifically requires a certificate from a doctor, check with them before you request one.

Will my employer accept an online certificate?

Under the Fair Work Act, employers can ask for evidence that would satisfy a reasonable person. The Fair Work Ombudsman lists medical certificates and statutory declarations as examples of acceptable evidence. Click Clinic certificates are issued by registered practitioners after an assessment, but acceptance is up to your employer, and awards and agreements can set their own evidence rules. Check yours if you are unsure.

Can I get a certificate for days that have already passed?

No. Certificates are dated from the day you apply and are not backdated. If you were unwell on an earlier day, a statutory declaration may be an option; check what your employer or education provider accepts.

What does the certificate show?

Your name, the date it was issued, the dates you’re unfit for work or study (or needed to provide care), a general reason without private medical details, and the practitioner’s name and registration details.

Who reviews my request?

Ahpra-registered nurse practitioners. Their registration can be checked on the public Ahpra register.

Is my health information private?

Your employer or education provider receives the certificate, not your answers. Your request is handled by the practitioner and the staff who process it, through our secure form and payment providers. Our privacy policy explains how your information is collected, stored and shared.

I haven’t received my certificate. What should I do?

Check your junk or spam folder first. If it isn’t there, email admin@clickclinic.com.au with your full name and the date of your request.
